As I’m posting these, I am seeing that I could probably do more “edge highlighting”. Or at least put a little more contrast on the highlight areas. Things to consider for the future…Read More →
Look at that, two days in a row again! Hooray! Here we have the 5th Kobold in this batch of monsters painted over a few sessions. Yes, there are a lot that look kinda same-y, but that’s because I think there were only two sculpts in the pack. I had two packs, though I didn’t paint them all in this batch. I’ve found that more than about 5 at a time tends to cause me to miss bits, have to re-paint botches I didn’t see when moving from one to the next, or even not see some of the details until I thought I wasRead More →
Well, I thought I would be able to keep ahead of the posts (at one point I had nearly a month of daily posts scheduled & ready to rock!), but in the words of Dr. Ian Malcolm: “Life finds a way…” (to get in the way). Here’s the 4th Kobold in the series. This one has managed to wrangle a bit of shoulder armor, but I doubt it’ll help much when encountering an adventuring party…Read More →

And I think they came out looking pretty dang good, for what they are and my skill level.Read More →
These goblins are examples of what drive me mad about the Reaper Bones miniatures. All of them have busted faces — not even really repairable. The detail is sometimes not clear, or the detail lines are not deep enough and they get lost in the primer or first thin layers. Luckily these aren’t heroes or “Big Bads”, where having them super-well-painted to centerpiece quality really isn’t the goal. As such, I just had to sigh and suffer through the unfortunate faces and WAY too skinny torsos of these models. It’s okay, in a group and on the table, they look good enough to be one-shot-kills-’emRead More →
So this guy had a busted face from the get-go. I did the best I could with it, but it’s a wreck. Even by goblin standards, this dude got beaten around the face with the ugly stick…Read More →
