Dwarf Slayer – Then & Now: A Comparison

Now that I have two of an identical model, painted over a year apart – I thought it would be neat to do a side-by-side comparison of the two and evaluate how my painting skills are progressing (or not). In both April of 2015, and August of 2016 I painted this version of the Dwarf Slayer. Old one on the left, new one on the right: For some reason, the left eye on both of them are a bit wonky… Other observations — The skin looks a bit better now. The contrast on the metal is better & clearer. The hair is significantly brighter andRead More →

Dwarf Slayers – Group Photo

And here is the group of three Dwarf Slayers I painted together. Groups of three are nice – Enough time for paint to dry between colors, but no so much painting at once that I burn out on the models or colors during the process. Yes, I know this isn’t a “full” Unit, but now with the already-painted Slayers I have enough for a full unit of them!Read More →

Dwarf Slayer #5 – Duplicate Slayer

This is another copy of the Dwarf Slayer #1, from the Battle for Skull Pass box set. Tomorrow will be a post on this recent set of 3 completed Slayers. For this slayer I used a Yellow wash instead of an Orange wash on the hair, so it’s slightly brighter than the other two Slayers in the set. This is a plastic model, whereas the other two Slayers in this set are the older metal Slayer models. I bought a slew of the Dwarf Slayers in metal from another player at the local game store back when I started playing Warhammer, thinking I might do a Slayer-focusedRead More →

Dwarf Slayer #4 – Daemon Slayer

Back in the day, the upgraded Dragon Slayer was known as a Daemon Slayer (and got lots of cool bonuses). For units of Slayers, this is the group leader. I feel like I’m coming along with the painting – The gemstones came out really well, and this model is overall quite nice…Read More →

Back to the Dwarfs, I did some Slayers. This is a Musician for the Slayer unit(s). These Slayer paint jobs (that will be posed over the next few days) came together surprisingly quickly!Read More →

Here’s another Slayer I painted along with the poor guy that got captured. It’s an older version of the Games Workshop Slayer models. Metal!Read More →

Dwarf Slayer – Captured!

This Slayer has experienced a fate far worse than death for any Dwarf that has taken the Slayer oath — being captured! In the Warhammer fluff, Dwarf Slayers are those who have been shamed in some way — Breaking an Oath, failing to exact retribution for a family or clan grudge when given the opportunity, etc. The shame of this kind of thing causes them such grief that they shave their hair into a stiff mohawk, dye their remaining hair & beards bright orange, and swear blood oath to never rest until they find an honourable death in battle against the mightiest of foes. Because of this, the enemiesRead More →
