Now that I have two of an identical model, painted over a year apart – I thought it would be neat to do a side-by-side comparison of the two and evaluate how my painting skills are progressing (or not).
In both April of 2015, and August of 2016 I painted this version of the Dwarf Slayer. Old one on the left, new one on the right:
For some reason, the left eye on both of them are a bit wonky… Other observations — The skin looks a bit better now. The contrast on the metal is better & clearer. The hair is significantly brighter and more evocative of the Slayer lore. And I’ve actually started painting fingernails!
Again, the skin is just so much better, and the metal bits look nicer. And the hair just feels more detailed. I feel like it’s significantly better, and I painted three slayers in the time it took me to paint that one… so overall, I’m definitely improving some. As I get more models under my belt, hopefully I’ll be able to make more comparisons later!
