A Word on Brushes

This is mainly to test my Twitter integration again. Hoping this will post to twitter as well, but we’ll see. Still trying to tweak these settings.

Anyway, I have a wide variety of brushes. All of them useful for specific purposes, but there’s one brush that I use far more than any other — The Citadel Starter Brush. It came with the starter paint set with like 8 colors in horrible pots. Colors unlabeled (but they are on the box), 10 Night Goblins, and the Citadel Starter Brush. I almost immediately replaced the paints with actual paint pots (though I did plow through the black & red colors in the starter set).

If I had to choose only one brush to use, always – it would be the Citadel Starter Brush. While it’s not a great detail or large-area coverage brush, it does basically everything else perfectly. It’s small enough to pick out most details without much trouble (I’ve even done eyes with it, before I had a detail brush), and handles even the larger Fantasy models with ease. I’ve drybrushed with it, and done line work. It’s sturdy, and has held up since I began my Warhammer painting career. I would never want to give up my 18/0 and 20/0 detail brushes, my Citadel Medium Drybrush, or my large area brush — if I was forced to choose, I’d go with the Starter brush every time. It is still my most-used brush.

I’d love to hear your favorite brushes & equipment – What do YOU use?

Anyway — This was just an aside and my thoughts on brushes. I just painted some styrofoam blocks, to be used as hills. Time to see if they’re dry yet!
